What is an implant?

An implant is a titanium cylinder placed in the bone to replace a missing tooth root. The implant fuses with the bone and creates a stable foundation for a new crown to be cemented.

For denture patients, dental implants are invaluable. They allow more stability when eating and talking.

Why implants and not a bridge?

A bridge is certainly a good option to replace a missing tooth. However, to place a bridge, the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth will need to have crowns placed. If these teeth have never had a restoration, it is a difficult decision to crown them in order to replace one tooth. Talk with Dr. Cash about your options.

What is the procedure?

Dr. Cash will refer you to a surgeon for implant placement. The implant will be left under the gums for 3-6 months allowing the implant to fuse with the bone. The surgeon will uncover the implant and place an attachment, called an abutment, which will be covered by a crown. After placing the abutment, Dr. Cash will begin making your restoration.

How much do they cost?

A dental implant will cost roughly $3000 to have the implant placed and restored with a crown.
