What is a veneer?
A veneer is a thin shell of ceramic that is bonded to the front of the tooth. Veneers can improve the appearance of your smile. They can correct crooked teeth, cover unattractive staining, and change the shape of your teeth to create a beautiful smile. Contact our office for more details on how to improve your smile.
How long does it take?
A veneer case consists of three appointments.
Appointment #1: Records appointment - photos, impressions for study models, bite analysis. Using this information, a diagnostic wax-up is completed to show you what your new smile will look like. This will allow you to view the final result prior to beginning treatment.
Appointment #2: Preparation appointment - At this appointment, Dr. Cash will remove approximately 1/2 to 1 mm of tooth structure. This will allow adequate space needed for the porcelain. Usually, this appointment will require local anesthesia and several hours to complete.
Note: Dr. Cash also places Lumineers which usually require no removal of tooth or anesthesia. It is a good alterative for people who want to improve their smile without reducing their existing teeth. Ask us to see if these are a good option for you. After preparation, an impression of your teeth will be taken. Your veneers will me made using models poured from this impression. Your veneers are custom made and shaded to match your smile. This process usually takes three weeks.
Custom made temporaries are made for you to wear while your veneers are prepared. The temporaries will protect your teeth, confirm the correct shape and color, and assure that your bite is correct.
Appointment #3: Bonding appointment - Dr. Cash will try on your veneers to check the fit and aesthetics prior to bonding. After verifying the fit and appearance, the veneers will be bonded to your teeth using light activated cement.
